Large Soil heavy road construction equipment – SD-160
Meeting Extreme Challenges
In today's construction industry “Compaction” plays a more important role than it ever has before. During recent years, the construction industry has learned a great deal about the importance and effects of Compaction. In reality, this one phase of construction represents the very foundation of the construction industry. Today's projects around the globe demand effective compaction of soils to support greater loads for new highways, airports, dams and levees and building foundations. Let Ingersoll Rand soil compactors meet all the challenges your project offers and help you complete your job efficiently and effectively.
Large Soil Compactors – SD-160
When the Ingersoll Rand SD-160 weighs in, your most demanding projects are under control. Whether it's major highway construction, earth- or rock-filled dam, concrete rubblization, a landfill or an industrial park, the SD-160 powers its way to the required density with the fewest number of passes.
Substantial size, high static weight, abundant horsepower, massive centrifugal forces and a robust drum are among their strengths. A 173-, six-cylinder turbocharged Cummins diesel engine provides the power for heavy-duty applications. A variable frequency control adjusts vibration to the natural resonant frequency of the material being compacted. High, variable centrifugal forces of up to 76,300 lb (339kN) allow the SD-160 to densify thick lifts of 40 in (1 m) or more with the least number of passes. And a clamp-on padfoot shell kit, which can easily be installed on site, gives you the versatility of compacting either clay or aggregate materials.
Operator comfort and safety are paramount in the SD-160. A fully adjustable, suspension-mounted seat is standard. Four independent vibration dampeners isolate the operator's platform from machine vibration. Controls and gauges are ergonomically-positioned. A lightweight, single-piece engine enclosure hinges at the rear providing easy access to maintenance checkpoints and service components. Handling thicker lifts with fewer passes, the compaction forces of the SD-160 deliver maximum productivity.
